Launch of the National Built Environment Equality Standard (BEES)

28 November 2011

In early 2012 the National Built Environment Equality Standard (BEES) will be launched. The standard will allow built environment organisations the opportunity to attain a nationally recognised standard of achievement in respect of Equality.

Following the introduction of the Equality Act 2010 and subsequent aspirations to influence 'change' within the construction sector, a number of bodies from industry, academia and government have joined together to develop a single 'Equality Standard' for the built environment. It has recognised that some organisations will wish to become early adopters of the standard. This website allows those organisations to access services, tools and experts to enable lawful compliance, best practice and excellence within Equality.

The standard is accredited by the University of Salford, supported by Constructing Excellence and delivered by both the Centre for Construction Innovation and Constructing Equality. The new standard will utilise the several Constructing Excellence Regional Centres as operational bases throughout the UK.
