Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)

Corporate Social Responsibility acts as a major driver of innovation and is a powerful tool in enhancing the operational efficiency of businesses and construction companies are increasingly valuing the role of socially responsible practices in order to win work. CSR practices contributes to securing a strategic advantage (i.e by gaining confidence and good will of the local community and facilitating planning permission); improving reputation  (i.e. by developing a brand for doing good busines); reducing costs (i.e. by enhancing productivity); and minimising risks ( i.e. relating to corporate image). The current Government’s emphasis on transparency and socially responsible practices for sustainable development and sustainable procurement makes CSR reporting an increasing  priority for all organisations, large or small.

A CSR toolkit has been developed by CCI as a guideline for construction companies: it has been designed to help organisations evaluate and adopt their socially responsible business practices through a strategic approach – Diagnose, Plan, Implement, Impact and Improve.
